Since late 2018, both surgeries have been under the same ownership and management. Over the years, we’ve been aligning our processes and protocols to enhance efficiency and improve patient services while minimising disruptions. We’re now at the point where merging our NHS contracts is essential to continue meeting the challenges we face.

We’re pleased to inform you that we’ve met all the requirements set by NHS England and the Integrated Care Board, and we received approval for the merger earlier this year. As we already operate as one organisation, this merger is primarily administrative.

In May 2025, we will merge our clinical IT systems to unify patient records from both surgeries. This will significantly streamline our workloads, allowing us to better coordinate recall systems and manage back-office functions like referrals and clinical correspondence. These changes are mostly behind-the-scenes, so we hope you won’t experience much disruption.

However, to complete this process, we need to shut down our systems for an afternoon and overnight on 13th May 2025. This will coincide with our regular monthly half-day closure for training. During this time, we won’t have access to patient notes. Rest assured, we’re working with our external partners to minimise the impact on critical services and urgent needs.

For patients of Bacon Road Medical Centre, there may be some disruption in ordering repeat prescriptions after this date whilst we reload some templates. We’re working hard to minimise this and will set up a dedicated phone line option for any issues you may encounter.
