We offer several services that are led by external agencies.
We are now able to register those aged between 13 and 24 for a C-Card (free condoms) and issue chlamydia screening kits for home use.
We can also issue the contraceptive pill and emergency contraception. However, if you need sexual health screening or would like information regarding IUDs or other contraception methods, you would need to visit the sexual health clinic (iCaSH).
The NHS no longer offer free pregnancy tests at the surgery. These will need to be purchased.
Providing travel immunisations is not part of standard NHS services. However, practices do provide routine immunisations, which coincidentally may also be required when travelling abroad, these are:
We can undertake the above vaccines in preparation for your travel plans on the proviso that you have previously had a travel consultation. We are not able to give these without you having a detailed consultation as they may not all be necessary or may leave you without suitable cover.
If you are travelling abroad, you should contact a travel clinic to book a consultation at least 6 weeks before departure. Consultations are not done at the surgery. They are privately run and therefore are chargeable. A consultation with a travel clinic will give you information on what vaccines you need for the area you are travelling to.
There are a number of locations around the city who run specialist travel clinics for example:
All of the above can carry out vaccinations for yellow fever.
Vaccines are the most effective way to prevent many infectious diseases.
Vaccines teach your immune system how to create antibodies that protect you from diseases.
The NHS health check is a health check up for adults in England aged 40-74.
It’s designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions. An NHS health check helps find ways to lower this risk.
We run phlebotomy (blood) clinics at the surgery every day.
These are not drop in clinics and you will need to book an appointment.
At the surgery each of our nurses specialise in different chronic diseases.
Appropriate advice and treatment are given where problems arise and referral to specialists will be arranged when required.
